Presepe di pace 2023
Natale 2023. San Francesco ce lo indica con insistente commozione da otto secoli: Greccio 1223-2023. Contempliamo il mistero di amore della discesa di Dio nella nostra fragile carne attraverso una Madre Vergine. Gesù, principe della pace, ne porta il dono in terra agli uomini. Una pace che scende dal cielo con l’annunzio angelico, invocata dai giusti nella preghiera, come san Giuseppe. Una pace ancora fragile e ferita — nella colomba insanguinata — dalla morte di tanti innocenti che soffrono. Una pace affidata alla nostra libertà, che parte da un cuore pacificato, da gesti di riconciliazione.
Preghiamo in modo particolare in questo Natale per la Terra Santa, luogo nativo del Salvatore, insanguinato dalla guerra. Il Signore ponga fine a questa guerra che miete vittime innocenti!

Gloria a Dio nelle altezze
e pace in terra agli uomini, da lui amati.
A noi basta la tua pace. Ma troppo spesso ci manca.
Forse non accogliamo il tuo amore e non custodiamo la pace che ci porta.
Porta pace a Betlemme, dove sei nato;
porta pace a Gaza, dove oggi si combatte;
ti domandiamo pace per Gerusalemme, città della pace;
ti chiediamo pace per ogni popolo e luogo ferito dalla guerra.
Porta pace ad ogni cuore,
porta pace in ogni dove.
Apri le nostre libertà
a conoscere che siamo uomini e donne,
tutti da te amati.
Allora la pace potrà scendere nei nostri cuori,
allora la tua pace potrà abitare sulla terra.

Christmas 2023. Saint Francis has been pointing it out to us with insistent emotion for eight centuries: Greccio 1223-2023. We contemplate the mystery of love of God’s descent into our fragile flesh through a Virgin Mother. Jesus, prince of peace, brings its gift to men on earth. A peace that descends from heaven with the angelic announcement, invoked by the righteous in prayer, like Saint Joseph. A peace that is still fragile and wounded – in the bloody dove – by the death of so many innocent people who suffer. A peace entrusted to our freedom, which starts from a pacified heart, from gestures of reconciliation.
Let us pray in a particular way this Christmas for the Holy Land, the Savior’s native place, bloodied by war. May the Lord put an end to this war that claims innocent victims!

and peace on earth to men, loved by him.
Your peace is enough for us. But too often we miss it.
Maybe we don’t welcome your love and we don’t cherish the peace it brings us.
Bring peace to Bethlehem, where you were born;
bring peace to Gaza, where there is fighting today;
we pray you for the peace of Jerusalem, city of peace;
we ask you for peace for every people and place wounded by war.
Bring peace to every heart,
brings the peace everywhere.
Open our freedoms
to know that we are men and women,

Un sentito ringraziamento a fr. Paolo Bocci e ai diversi volontari che si sono adoperati per allestire anche quest’anno il presepe “francescano” nella Cappella del Santissimo Sacramento. La Natività si trova accanto alla Presenza Eucaristica del Signore, sia per ricordare l’autentica intenzione del Natale di Greccio, vissuto da san Francesco del 1223, sia per offrirla come luogo e segno di contemplazione, preghiera e affidamento.
A heartfelt thanks to fr. Paolo Bocci and the various volunteers who worked to set up the “Franciscan” Nativity in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament again this year. The Nativity is next to the Eucharistic Presence of the Lord, both to remember the authentic intention of the Christmas of Greccio, experienced by Saint Francis in 1223, and to offer it as a place and sign of contemplation, prayer and trust.
